Belgrade's HOTTEST Hotel: Indigo's Unbelievable Luxury Awaits!
Belgrade's Bling: Indigo Hotel Review - Where Did My Cash Go?! (But Seriously, Wow.)
Okay, buckle up buttercups, because my review of the Hotel Indigo Belgrade is gonna be a WILD ride. I'm still recovering, partly from the sheer luxury, partly from the Belgrade nightlife, and mostly from the bill… seriously, my bank account is weeping. But was it worth it? Let's unpack this Serbian diamond, shall we?

(Deep breath) Right. Now for the real review.
First Impressions: Glamour & Giggles (and a minor panic attack)
Walking into the Indigo Belgrade? BAM. Hit in the face with sleekness. Seriously, this place screams money. It's all polished chrome, mood lighting that makes you look 10 years younger (thank GOD), and staff so impeccably dressed they make you feel like you’ve stumbled onto the set of a James Bond film. Okay, maybe a slightly less suave James Bond. Me, in my travel-worn jeans and frankly, questionable taste in t-shirts.
Check-in was a breeze thanks to the Contactless check-in/out which, in our post-pandemic world, is a blessing. The doorman? He practically bowed. I swear, I felt a sudden urge to start speaking in a posh English accent. The initial reaction was just pure, unadulterated gasp and then a teeny, tiny panic attack. Am I worthy of this level of fancy? But, look this hotel is just… gorgeous. It offers a level of design that makes you want to Instagram everything. The lobby? Worthy of a fashion spread.
Accessibility: Crucial, but a Little… Spotty (My Wheelchair-Bound Friend's Perspective)
My friend Maya uses a wheelchair and we always assess hotels with her needs in mind. The Elevator was a lifesaver, naturally. Overall, the hotel advertises itself as accessible, which is partially true. The main areas, like the lobby and restaurant, were wide and easy to navigate. Facilities for disabled guests are listed, but the experience was mixed.
The Accessible rooms, while beautifully designed, did have a few quirks. The bathroom, while spacious, had a slightly awkward arrangement that made maneuvering a little challenging. The shower was great, but the grab bars… well, let’s just say they weren’t perfectly positioned.
My biggest issue? The front entrance. Yes, there’s a ramp, technically. But it’s not particularly well-marked, and the paving could be a bit smoother. Maya relies on independence, and I felt like she was constantly having to ask for assistance.
On-site accessible restaurants / lounges were a HUGE plus. It's the small details that make the biggest difference.
Rooms: My Luxurious Lair (with a few minor gripes)
Okay, the room. My jaw. Dropped. Non-smoking rooms are the norm here, which is a huge plus. Seriously, the Air conditioning – pure bliss in the Belgrade heat. The bed? Like sleeping on a cloud laced with angel dust. The Extra-long bed was pure heaven. I immediately put on the Bathrobes, because, duh, I was suddenly that person. Soaking in the gigantic tub while I was watching some trashy TV show? Chef’s kiss.
They provide all the usual suspects: Free bottled water, Coffee/tea maker, Mini bar (that I raided shamelessly), Safe box, and an In-room safe box. Basically, your entire life will be set for comfort.
My room had a seriously gorgeous Mirror and a lovely Seating area with a view of… well, mostly other buildings, but still. The Blackout curtains were a lifesavers the following morning after a supercharged Belgrade night.
The Internet access – wireless (Wi-Fi [free]) was speedy and reliable, which is a godsend when you’re trying to post pictures of your ridiculously luxurious experience (and keep in touch with all your friends back home, of course!).
Now for the grumbles: The Soundproofing wasn’t quite up to par. I could hear the distant thrum of the city, and the occasional party in the hallway. Nothing too disruptive, but it did take me some time to adjust.
And on my quest for further comfort and relaxation, I really appreciated the Slippers and the Towels. I mean, what would a 5-star level experience, such as this be without them?
Dining: Food Glorious Food (and a slight financial hangover)
Oh, the food. Let’s start with the breakfasts. The Breakfast [buffet] was a sight to behold! A glorious, shimmering collection of pastries, fresh fruit, eggs cooked every imaginable way, and coffee strong enough to raise the dead (needed!). Asian breakfast items were a welcomed deviation. And look the Western breakfast selection was just as phenomenal.
The Restaurants themselves deliver. The A la carte in restaurant options were exceptional. They have a great selection of Desserts in restaurant. And there's a Vegetarian restaurant that makes a change for non-meat eaters. I would recommend checking out the Coffee/tea in restaurant options.
Other times, I opted to enjoy the Room service [24-hour; available in all rooms]. Honestly, I've never felt so decadent. Ordering a burger at 3 AM while wearing a bathrobe? Pure bliss.
The Poolside bar was super chic. The Pool with view was glorious. The Salad in restaurant was a tasty option. The Snack bar was a great option when you're just feeling a little bit peckish. The Soup in restaurant and Bottle of water were great additions.
The Bar itself was buzzing with activity. The Happy hour deals were… dangerous. I'm not saying I spent a fortune on cocktails, but let's just say my wallet is still recovering.
They also take care of all food-related safety with Safe dining setup, Sanitized kitchen and tableware items, and Individually-wrapped food options.
The Alternative meal arrangement option was a welcome addition.
Things to Do & Chill Zones: Spa, Sauna, and… More Spa
Right, the Spa! This is where things get truly… indulgent. I booked myself in for a Body scrub, a Massage, and a Foot bath. Okay, fine, maybe I went back for another massage the next day. Don't judge me!
The Sauna and Steamroom were perfect for sweating out the toxins from the Belgrade nightlife the night before. The Gym/fitness area was well-equipped. The Swimming pool [outdoor] was beautiful. Honestly, I felt like I’d floated onto a movie set.
The Pool with view. Oh my god. I actually felt like I was living my most glamorous existence. And the Spa/sauna and the Steamroom are a must to indulge in.
Services & Conveniences: The Little Things That Matter (and add to the bill!)
The Daily housekeeping was impeccable. My room was always spotless, the bed made with military precision, and my used robes neatly folded. The Laundry service was pricey, but worth it to avoid dragging a suitcase full of dirty clothes around.
Other cool features? Concierge service on point! They helped me book restaurants, organize day trips, and generally made me feel like I was royalty. The Currency exchange was convenient. The Cash withdrawal service was great too.
The Car park [on-site] was handy, and while I didn’t use the Airport transfer, it's something I'd consider if I had to fly in or out of Belgrade.
Safety & Security: Cleanliness and Security
The Staff trained in safety protocol was so reassuring. They went above and beyond. The hotel provided an overall safe environment, with Security [24-hour], CCTV in common areas, Fire extinguisher, and Smoke alarms.
They took the pandemic seriously, with Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Hand sanitizer everywhere you looked, and rooms sanitized between stays, I really appreciated the effort. The Safe dining setup and Sanitized kitchen and tableware items also provided peace of mind.
Getting Around:
The Taxi service was reliable. I didn't need to use the Car park [free of charge] nor did I use the Bicycle parking.
For the Kids: An Aspect of Relaxation (I wouldn't know)
My stay was child-free, but I noted the Babysitting service which can be a massive plus. They also had **
Wollongong Motel Near Byron Bay: Your Aussie Coastal Getaway Awaits!
Okay, buckle up Buttercup, because this isn't your average itinerary. This is Belgrade, Unfiltered! We're talking about the Hotel Indigo Belgrade, but the real stars of this show are my own chaotic, opinionated feelings about the whole damn thing.
Welcome to Belgrade! (Or, the Airport Debacle)
Day 1 (Arrival - OMG, I'm in Serbia!)
- Morning (8:00 AM Belgrade time, ish): Landed at Nikola Tesla Airport. The passport control guy looked suspiciously like a younger, slightly more grumpy version of my Uncle Boris. Initial feeling: EXCITEMENT! Then, a wave of "Did I pack enough socks?" fear.
- (Roughly 9:30 AM): The "pre-booked" airport transfer? Yeah, they were a no show. Cue a frantic scramble involving terrible Serbian phrases I'd memorized on Duolingo ("Gde je taksi?") and a very persistent taxi driver who smelled faintly of cigarettes and unfulfilled dreams. Negotiated a price that probably ripped me off, but who cares! I'm alive!
- (Around 11:00 AM): FINALLY, at the Hotel Indigo. It's… stylish. Very Instagram-able. Lobby art? Check. Annoyingly perfect lighting? Check. My room? Small. But the view! Overlooking a rather gray city, but still, Belgrade. Heart doing a little happy dance.
- (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM): Unpacked (sort of). Attempted to connect to the Wi-Fi which, naturally, had a problem. Spent 20 minutes battling a robot and nearly tearing my hair out. First emotional reaction: Mild annoyance.
Afternoon (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM): First Impressions, Food and Feeling Slightly Lost
- (1:00 PM): Lunch at the hotel's restaurant, "Iva New Balkan Cuisine." Ordered the pljeskavica (Serbian burger). It was… amazing. Seriously. Best burger of my life, easily. I may have shed a tiny tear of joy.
- (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM): Wandered into the city center. Knez Mihailova Street: touristy as hell, but still, pretty. Bought a ridiculously overpriced souvenir that I know I'll regret later. Started feeling the jet lag creep in. The cobblestones and the buildings look beautiful, but the city feels huge and confusing.
- (4:00 PM): Tried to navigate my map – failed miserably. Got utterly and completely lost. Wandered around a park and sat on a rusty bench, observing life. So many smokers! Made friends with a very judgmental pigeon.
- Quirky observation: Serbians? They love a good smoke break. Like, a real good smoke break. Makes you wonder how they even get anything done.
- (4:30 PM): Found my way back to the hotel, defeated and needing a nap.
- (5:00 PM): Nap. Glorious, glorious nap.
Evening (7:00 PM onwards) - Dinner and a Drink
- (7:00 PM) Woke up, felt 40% human, went down to the hotel's bar. The cocktail list was tempting, but I ended up ordering a local beer.
- (8:00 PM) Dinner at a local restaurant, "Dva Jelena" known for its traditional cuisine and lively atmosphere. Had a huge plate of grilled meat. It was delicious but I couldn't finish it all.
- Anecdote: A group of older Serbian men were singing traditional songs. It was utterly charming. I wanted to join in, but my Serbian is still, let's say, under construction.
- (10:00 PM) Walked back. Felt very full but happy.
Day 2 (Exploring Belgrade: Culture, Coffee, and a Catastrophe)
Morning (9:00 AM): Coffee in the hotel. Still battling the Wi-Fi. Decided to explore the Kalemegdan Fortress.
(10:00 AM): The Fortress is impressive. History oozes from every brick. Walking along the ramparts, staring out at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. It’s absolutely stunning.
- Emotional reaction: I am so small. History is so big. Feeling humbled, a little overwhelmed, and totally in love with the view.
(11:00 AM - 12:30 PM): Walked through the Victory Monument, saw an exhibition.
(12:30 PM - 1:30 PM): Lunch.
Afternoon (1:30 PM - 5:00 PM): Shopping/Wandering/ Catastrophe
- (1:30 PM): Went to a few unique shops.
- (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM): This is where things went sideways. Decided to try and find a specific vintage shop I'd read about. Got completely and utterly lost. Again. Followed Google Maps blindly, and ended up stepping in a gigantic puddle that was disguised as a sidewalk. Got my favorite shoes soaked. Cue the internal meltdown. I wanted to cry. The mud smell was terrible.
- Emotional reaction: Rage. Disappointment. Self-pity. I have NEVER been so annoyed at a puddle in my entire life. My shoes!
(4:00 PM): After a massive self-flagellation session, I managed to find a nice little shop. This cheered me up a little.
(5:00 PM - 6:00 PM) Went back to the hotel, changed shoes (thank goodness for backup pairs!), and nursed my wounds (literally and figuratively) with a strong coffee.
Evening (7:00 PM Onwards):
- (7:00 PM): Dinner at a restaurant that was recommended by a local, "Ambar".
- (9:00 PM): Explored the area, but I didn't want to go too far in case I got lost again.
Day 3 (Departure - Saying Goodbye… For Now)
- Morning: Reluctant goodbyes to the hotel, Serbia, and my newfound love for the pljeskavica.
- (8:00 AM): Checked out of the Hotel Indigo. The staff were lovely.
- (8:30 AM): Airport transfer.
- Anecdote: Ran into Uncle Boris's lookalike at the airport! He was much more cheerful than the first time I met him. He pointed me towards some delicious pastries. I am now in my happy place.
- (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Flight Departure.
- Final Thoughts: Belgrade? Chaotic. Beautiful. Frustrating. Delicious. I'll be back. Definitely bring more socks next time (and maybe some industrial-strength puddle boots).
- (Emotional reaction): A bittersweet feeling. I want to stay longer. But… I also really need a shower.
